Trump Border Czar Tom Homan Annihilates MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” In Fiery Showdown

Border Czar Challenges Host’s Data and Accusations in Tense Interview

Border Czar Tom Homan appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Tuesday, directly challenging what he characterized as “smears and lies” regarding the Trump Administration’s immigration enforcement policies.

The interview grew contentious as Homan confronted host Mika Brzezinski’s questions about data and enforcement practices.

During the exchange, Brzezinski repeatedly questioned Homan on the criminal history of individuals arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Homan stated that 70% of ICE arrests involve individuals with criminal convictions or pending charges. When Brzezinski demanded to see the data, Homan cited statistics that show a significant majority of those arrested or removed by ICE have criminal histories.

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, 35.7% of illegal immigrants in ICE detention have criminal convictions, and another 30.5% have pending criminal charges. The remaining 33.8% are described as “other immigration violators.”

The conversation also addressed the accusation of “racial profiling.”

Homan asserted that the actions of federal officers are not racial profiling but are a legal and “well-settled” practice.

He referenced the Immigration and Nationality Act, which authorizes officers to question individuals believed to be aliens about their legal status. He also noted that the Supreme Court has upheld the administration’s right to briefly stop and question individuals.

A key point of contention was the case of Narciso Barranco. Brzezinski described Barranco as a man “cutting bushes at an IHOP” who was “dragged into a car” by masked ICE agents.

Homan countered this narrative, stating that Barranco, an illegal immigrant, had refused to identify himself and then assaulted agents with a weed whacker while attempting to flee.

Homan concluded by addressing Brzezinski’s suggestion that ICE is “disappearing” people, calling the rhetoric dangerous and inflammatory.

He pointed to a “1,000% increase in the assaults on ICE officers,” a figure he attributed in large part to such public discourse. In July, ICE agents were reportedly facing an 830% increase in assaults, which Homan stated includes agents being ambushed, attacked, and doxxed.
