President Trump Takes Credit For Memphis Crime Drop, Announces ‘Real Work’ Has Just Begun

In a social media post, President Trump claims crime reductions in Memphis, Chicago, and Los Angeles are a direct result of his orders, not local efforts, and promises further intervention.

President Donald Trump said on Saturday that his administration is solely responsible for a recent decline in crime rates in Memphis and other major U.S. cities.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, the president stated:

“The only reason crime is somewhat down in Memphis is because the FBI, and others in the Federal Government, at my direction, have been working there for 5 months – on the absolutely terrible Crime numbers. Likewise, in Chicago and Los Angeles! But the real work by us has barely begun. That happens after we make the official announcement that WE’RE COMING, and when we do that, as we did in now VERY SAFE WASHINGTON, D.C., the no crime “miracle” begins. ONLY I CAN SAVE THEM!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT”

The statement came one day after the president announced on Fox News that he would deploy the National Guard to Memphis to address crime concerns, local leaders welcomed the move, he claimed.

Just days before Trump’s announcement, the Memphis Police Department reported that overall crime had reached a 25-year low, with murders at a six-year low.

While some Republican officials, including Tennessee’s U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, have supported the National Guard deployment, others have been more cautious. Republican Gov. Bill Lee noted an ongoing FBI operation in the city had already led to “hundreds of arrests.”

The president’s post suggests that the full effect of his intervention has yet to be seen, and that a formal announcement of “WE’RE COMING” will trigger a “no crime ‘miracle.”
