U.S. lawmakers are sounding the alarm on wholesale giant Costco after some surprising discoveries.
According to them, certain security equipment sold by Costco is manufactured using slave labor; the merchandise includes Hikvision HQ products and Dahua HQ products.
Lawmakers claim that the Chinese Communist Party is using Uyghur and North Korean political prisoners to build the security equipment.
Additionally, lawmakers are also posing the same concerns about Chinese seafood, which they believe is also being harvested using slave labor.
The China Commission recently penned a letter to Costco inquiring about the products and asking them to explain their position:

Just The News had more:
Dahua is a company in China whose cameras are banned from being sold in the U.S., due to helping the Chinese government aid oppression in Xinjiang.
Bloomberg likewise reported: “A congressional committee asked Costco and a unit of security-equipment seller Resideo to explain why they’ve sold products linked to two sanctioned Chinese companies.”

Tech Crunch added:
Although Dahua sold Lorex earlier this year to Taiwanese company Skywatch, the lawmakers say the sale “does not allay our concerns or immediately change the security risks posed to U.S. companies and consumers moving forward, as Dahua still supplies all the component parts for the Lorex cameras and other surveillance equipment.”
