Rep. Nancy Mace on Ilhan Omar Investigation: “Let the Process Play Out? Nothing Ever Happens.”
Our reporter, @alisonintheknow, asked @RepNancyMace where the investigation into Rep. @Ilhan Omar stands amid questions about her citizenship and the referral to the House Ethics Committee.
Mace said she attempted to subpoena immigration records tied to Omar, but the effort went nowhere.
“The mark is always ‘let the process play out,’ right? That’s what they always say - and nothing ever happens,” Mace said.
She added that a motion tied to the issue was ultimately killed by Republicans, arguing that too often both parties close ranks when investigations get close to their own members.
The question now: Will the Ethics Committee actually act - or will the investigation stall once again?
