Minneapolis Catholic School Shooter Identified As Transgender Robin Westman, Formerly Robert
Trans gunman who killed two children and injured 17 others had “Kill Donald Trump” scrawled on gun magazines.
The gunman who carried out a deadly attack on Annunciation Catholic School has been identified as Robin Westman, a transgender man in his early 20s who was formerly known as Robert Westman. Court records show that a Minneapolis juvenile named Robert Westman legally changed their name to Robin in 2019.
The attack, which occurred around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, resulted in the deaths of two children and injuries to 17 others during a back-to-school Mass. Westman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara described the act as one of “sheer cruelty and cowardice.”
According to court documents filed by a mother named Mary Grace Westman, “Minor child [redacted] identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification.” The name Mary Grace Westman also appeared on the school’s Facebook feed in 2021, identified as the parish secretary ahead of her retirement.
Police are now investigating a series of videos believed to have been uploaded by Westman to a YouTube account just hours before the shooting, as the Tampa Free Press reported. The gun magazines seen in the videos were scrawled with handwritten phrases, including “kill Donald Trump” and “for the children.”
One of the videos shows a hand slowly turning the pages of a notebook filled with handwritten scrawl and what appear to be gun diagrams, as well as some of the writing in Russian. The videos also reportedly show an obsession with other mass shooters, including Sandy Hook killer Adam Lanza.
Hennepin Healthcare and Children’s Minnesota reported treating a combined 16 victims, most of whom were children. Two of the injured children remain in critical condition.
President Donald Trump issued a statement on Truth Social, saying he had been briefed on the incident. “The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved,” he wrote.
