Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy Rips Comey, Brennan As “Not Ethical People” Amid Criminal Probe

Louisiana Senator Slams Former Intel Chiefs, Cites Role in “Tense Political Climate” and Lack of Competence

Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana strongly criticized former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey on Thursday, telling Fox News host Harris Faulkner that the two were “not ethical people” and contributed significantly to the nation’s “tense political climate.”

The comments came amidst a criminal probe launched by the FBI into Brennan and Comey’s involvement in the Russia collusion investigation, a referral made by current CIA Director John Ratcliffe for allegedly making false statements to Congress.

Speaking on “The Faulkner Focus,” Senator Kennedy asserted that Brennan and Comey were “especially bad” and had eroded public trust in critical institutions. “We have a number of people in America that are crazy. I mean, they take politics so seriously that if you disagree with them, you are not just wrong, you are in error, you are a bad person,” Kennedy stated, lamenting the current political environment. “I can tell you two people who contributed to that climate, you have already mentioned their names, James Comey and John Brennan.”

Kennedy, who claimed to know both men, did not mince words regarding their character and competence. “Neither one of them, in my opinion, should attempt more than six of the ten commandments. They are not very nice people, they are not ethical people,” he told Faulkner, adding that colleagues who worked closely with them would attest to their unpopularity. “They are about as popular as male pattern baldness.”

The Louisiana Senator went further, questioning their abilities. “What’s scary about both of them is that they think that they are competent,” Kennedy said, before delivering a particularly sharp rebuke: “They’re not. I would hire the guy who salts the fries at McDonald’s before I would hire them.” He accused them of acting on their political beliefs, citing Brennan’s involvement in a 2020 letter that dismissed a New York Post report on Hunter Biden’s laptop as “Russian disinformation.”

Brennan, for his part, denied any wrongdoing during a Wednesday appearance on MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House,” telling host Nicolle Wallace that the CIA “stayed true” and did not attempt to influence the 2016 election during the Obama administration.

However, Kennedy maintained his criticism, labeling both Brennan and Comey as “arrogant.” “They’re like so many in Washington, Harris, they’re so arrogant,” he remarked, invoking a quote attributed to Lyndon Johnson. “Those two have done more to destroy the American people’s confidence in the FBI and national intelligence than any two people I can think of.”
