Israel has confirmed launching a strike in Beirut aimed at a Hezbollah commander, whom it holds responsible for a deadly attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced the strike on social media, stating, “Hezbollah crossed the red line,” just minutes after the Israeli military claimed responsibility for the action on Tuesday.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that it “carried out a targeted strike in Beirut, on the commander responsible for the murder of the children in Majdal Shams and the killing of numerous additional Israeli civilians.”
“Initial report- The IDF carried out a targeted strike in Beirut on the commander responsible for the murder of the children in Majdal Shams and the killing of numerous additional Israeli civilians. At the moment, there are no changes in the Home Front Command defensive guidelines. If any changes will be made, an update will be released,” said the IDF in an X post.

The Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that a drone attack, firing three missiles, targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The IDF’s statement came shortly after Hezbollah-run Al Manar TV reported a loud explosion in the area, which is a densely populated part of the Lebanese capital and a stronghold of the Iran-backed militant group.
