ICE Agents Arrest 5 In Georgia Linked To Violent Offenses And Domestic Abuse, DHS Says

Federal immigration authorities recently arrested five undocumented men across Georgia whose records include charges ranging from aggravated assault and domestic violence to child cruelty, the Department of Homeland Security announced Saturday.

According to an agency press release, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers carried out the operations in Eatonton, Lawrenceville, Decatur, and Mableton between Oct. 13 and Oct. 18.

“Biden’s reckless open border policy turned every single state into a border state, and that includes Georgia,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “In recent weeks, the brave men and women of ICE have been removing illegal aliens from Georgia communities arrested for such horrific crimes as cruelty to children, driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault, and family violence. Since day one of this administration, President Trump has taken swift and decisive action to Make America Safe Again, centering his first bill signed in office on Laken Riley, a Georgia nursing student who was senselessly killed by a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela and a member of Tren de Aragua.”

The department detailed the arrest records and immigration backgrounds of the five individuals taken into custody:

On Oct. 14, ICE officers in Eatonton arrested Olbin Omar Lopez-Orellana, a citizen of Honduras who had previously been deported in June 2021 following a final removal order.

According to DHS, Lopez-Orellana later re-entered the country unlawfully. His record includes convictions for three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of property damage, and fleeing police, as well as arrests for third-degree cruelty to children and driving without a valid license.

Jorge Chipoco, a Peruvian national, was arrested on Oct. 13 in Lawrenceville. DHS reported that Chipoco had entered the United States unlawfully at an unknown date and location. His record lists prior arrests for two counts of simple assault, third-degree cruelty to children, family violence battery, criminal mischief, obstruction of justice, and harassment.

In Decatur, ICE officers made two separate arrests. On Oct. 14, officers took Mexican national Hector Gutierrez Espinoza into custody. His record includes arrests for aggravated assault, false imprisonment, battery related to family violence, criminal trespass, shoplifting, and three separate offenses for driving without a license. Four days later, on Oct. 18, agents in Decatur arrested Rigoberto Gabriel Toj, a citizen of Guatemala whose history includes an arrest for felony aggravated assault involving family violence.

Officers also arrested Selvin Cruz Gallo, a Honduran national, in Mableton on Oct. 13. According to DHS records, Gallo entered the country without inspection and has past arrests for driving under the influence, battery involving family violence, manufacturing or possessing a fictitious driver’s license, driving without a license, and failing to show identification.
