President Donald Trump announced Saturday that U.S. warplanes have carried out strikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran, calling the operation “successful.” The targeted sites were identified as Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

President Trump revealed the military action in a post on Truth Social, stating, “We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

The strikes come amidst a period of heightened regional instability, with Israel having conducted its own air campaign against Iranian nuclear and military targets in recent days.

While the full extent of the damage to Iran’s nuclear program remains to be assessed, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has previously warned of “dangerous degradation of nuclear security” at Iranian sites due to earlier strikes.

This is a developing story.

“Operation Midnight Hammer”: U.S. Unleashes Largest B-2 Operational Strike In History On Iran Nuclear Sites

Senior Pentagon officials today revealed unprecedented details of “Operation Midnight Hammer,” the U.S. military operation that saw seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers deliver a devastating blow to three key Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday evening, Eastern Time.

The mission, described as the “largest B-2 operational strike in U.S. history,” successfully deployed the formidable GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) “bunker-buster” bombs for the first time in combat.

Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine, speaking at a Pentagon briefing this Sunday morning, revealed the highly classified nature of the mission. “Very few people in Washington knew the timing or nature of this plan,” Caine stated, emphasizing the element of surprise that was crucial to the operation’s success.

The strike package, consisting of seven B-2 Spirit bombers, embarked on an 18-hour transcontinental flight from their base in Missouri, requiring multiple in-flight refuelings. Upon entering Middle Eastern airspace, the stealth bombers were met by U.S. fighter jets, which cleared the path and checked for enemy aircraft and surface-to-air missiles.

In a meticulously coordinated maneuver, just before the B-2s entered Iranian airspace at approximately 5 p.m. ET Saturday, a U.S. submarine launched more than two dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles against targets inside Iran. This was followed by the deployment of “several deception tactics, including decoys,” as the fighter jets continued to secure the airspace.

“We are currently unaware of any shots fired at the strike package on the way in,” Caine confirmed, underscoring the effectiveness of the stealth and deception employed.

The primary targets were Iran’s nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. At about 6:40 p.m. ET (2:10 a.m. local time Sunday in Iran), the bombers initiated their assault, dropping two GBU-57 MOPs on the deeply buried Fordow facility. Over the subsequent 25 minutes, a total of 14 MOPs were unleashed across two target areas, signifying a sustained and concentrated attack.

“Iran’s fighters did not fly, and it appears that Iran’s surface-to-air missile systems did not see us. Throughout the mission, we retained the element of surprise,” Chairman Caine declared, highlighting the apparent complete evasion of Iranian defenses. He noted that “more than 125 U.S. aircraft participated in this mission,” including the B-2 bombers, previous generation fighters, refueling planes, and surveillance aircraft.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth hailed the strikes as “an incredible and overwhelming success.” Speaking alongside Chairman Caine, Secretary Hegseth stated, “The order we received from our commander in chief was focused, it was powerful, and it was clear. We devastated the Iranian nuclear program, but it’s worth noting that the operation did not target Iranian troops or the Iranian people.”

He further lauded the operation, asserting, “The operation President Trump planned was bold, and it was brilliant, showing the world that American deterrence is back. When this president speaks, the world should listen.” Hegseth emphasized the stealth nature of the mission, stating, “Our B-2s went in and out… and back without the world knowing at all. In that way it was historic. A strike that included the longest B-2 Spirit bomber since 2001, and the first operational employment of the MOP, a Massive Ordnance Penetrator.”

President Trump himself announced the U.S. strikes on Saturday evening, later addressing the nation to declare that the sites “have been completely and totally obliterated.” Flanked by Secretary Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Vice President JD Vance at the White House, the President described the strikes as a “spectacular military success.” He issued a stark warning of “far greater” attacks should Iran fail to “make peace.”

“If peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed and skill, most of them can be taken out in a matter of minutes,” President Trump warned. “There’s no military in the world that could have done what we did tonight, not even close. There has never been a military that could do what took place just a little while ago.”

The full extent of the damage and Iran’s response remains to be seen, but U.S. officials are confident that “Operation Midnight Hammer” has significantly set back Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
